My Approach: Create a Balanced Life

There are five major areas to a person’s life – physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and relational. Each of these areas must be given consistent, frequent attention in order for a person to live a balanced life and to feel healthy and in sync with their life. Encouraging and supporting a client’s pursuit of finding this balance by setting specific goals is the focus of Sherry’s work with each client.

PHYSICAL

A body which is functioning properly helps us feel whole, healthy, and happy. Each person chooses goals around activities such as: exercise, healthy eating, sleeping, and improving his/her physical environment.

MENTAL

Research has shown that the mind must remain active and alert throughout our lifetimes for optimum longevity. Keep sharp by reading more, doing puzzles, taking a class or learning a new skill. Keep the mind growing and learning.

EMOTIONAL

Find time for activities that bring joy and “nurture you,” bringing a smile to your face and heart each day. Gardening, time with family and friends, and hobbies – even for just a few minutes a day – can relieve stress and bring balance to life.

SPIRITUAL

This is a very individual matter and may speak to a Higher Power or something bigger and more influential than ourselves: Something or Someone that gives a person an anchor or guide in their life – a striving for meaning, motivation, and accountability.

RELATIONAL

No one is an “island unto themselves” – and personal relationships give quality and fullness to our lives. Focus on making significant people feel respected, cared-for, and a priority. Connect regularly with these special people.
